Google Docs for Tablets Coming Soon
Today, Google announced that it plans to release a Google Docs specifically for tablets.. The new version of Google Docs will run on the Apple iOS4 and the Android mobile operating systems, such as the iPad and the Samsung Galaxy Tab. Google is hoping that the updated version of Google Docs will give the Apple iWork applications some competition.
The tablet-friendly Google Docs will allow tablet users to edit documents, spreadsheets and presentations. This is good news for business tablet users because editing files on a small smartphone screen can be a huge hassle. With the iPad and other tablets, a larger screen is helpful and handy for business users on the go. Google’s latest office suite that is accessible through the cloud is perfect for businesspeople because the document or presentation can be accessed from any computer, smartphone or tablet. There is no need to send or transfer files.
Dave Girouard, the Google Enterprise President, wrote on The Official Google Blog today. He said, “Today we demonstrated new mobile editing capabilities for Google Docs on the Android platform and the iPad. In the next few weeks, co-workers around the world will soon be able to co-edit files simultaneously from an even wider array of devices.”
While Apple’s word processing and spreadsheet applications have been quite popular, Google’s latest addition may change that. Although, recently, Business Insider guessed that Apple will profit from its iWork apps far more than Google will from its whole application division. Google Docs for tablets may be just what Google needed to up its game.
