About Symantec Endpoint Protection

Symantec Endpoint Protection is an endpoint security software solution that can work across both physical and virtual platforms. The program can thoroughly scan IT assets for viruses and preemptively block intrusion attempts and zero-day attacks. To help expedite scans, known safe files are placed on a whitelist and skipped over during scans, allowing the product to focus on the more questionable objects in an environment.

For malware, the system relies on Insight, a crowdsourced file database, to assign a security ranking to each and every file that is on the Internet. Lastly, Symantec Endpoint Protection can provide email security through an optional add-on.
