BlackBerry Torch is official as it just went live on At&T’s website in preparation for its official release on the 12th of August. Research in Motion (RIM) just announced the launch of BlackBerry Torch 9800 today. There are many new innovative features of RIM’s latest BlackBerry.
The BlackBerry will have a large touch screen along with a physical keyboard. In the Torch’s press release, RIM officials said, “Users now have the best of both worlds- a refined smartphone designed for the heart and the head.” It will now be easier than ever to use because users will have the option between using the touch screen and the keyboard. There will still be a touch sensitive trackpad.
BlackBerry Torch 9800
The best part about the upcoming Torch 9800 is that it will run on the BlackBerry 6 operating system. It will be the first smartphone that will run on the BlackBerry 6 OS. It will also have a new WebKit browser and context-sensitive pop-up menus. BlackBerry 6 even offers integrated social feeds so users can consolidate all of their social networks into one screen. Also, BlackBerry 6 users will have access to the new BlackBerry App World 2.0 with the latest apps and updated billing options. There will be a Locations feature, which will help users find places in their area using the phone’s GPS.
BlackBerry Torch 9800 will have a 5.0 megapixel camera with flash, auto focus, geo-tagging and image stabilization. It will have 512 MB of flash memory and 4 GB of on-board memory. It will also have built-in GPS, 3G network support and Wifi support. The BlackBerry Torch will also have advanced messaging features for SMS and MMS, which includes group texting for up to ten participants.
The BlackBerry Torch will be released in the U.S. on August 12 in AT&T retail stores, Best Buy, Wal-Mart and Radioshack. It will cost $199 with a two year plan. View the BlackBerry Torch’s launch video below.
